“There is no substitute for passion and a basic design sense. Even the best formal training in design cannot compensate for the failure to perceive what form is good and what isn’t. Design sense is unique to each designer in terms of meaning, interpretation and style. For me design is the fusion between imaginable form and executable reality. Even if the forms are not jaw dropping, keeping it pure and simple always works!
There are a lot of key factors that contribute to my design style and sense. Firstly, it’s my passion to always push myself and never settle at the level I am at. I admire and look up to other established designers for inspiration and set benchmarks on where I’d like my career to be in the future. Besides designers, I take inspiration from nature and other cultures. I like to observe my end user and have a deep vested interest in human psychology. Identifying new emerging trends in a particular industry and foreseeing where a current product needs to be in order to survive and exceed its competition are some of my strengths.
What gets me excited about design? Its versatility, possibilities, colors, patterns, materials, forms, brand architectures, the development process and just the pure existence of design all around us! Living in a world without art & design would be mundane and meaningless. I enjoy designing just about everything. Everything from furniture, baby products, packaging and graphics, to small gadgets and large appliances; I have experience in all of these product categories and am always on a lookout for new products and design challenges. This is what keeps imagination and passion fueled for design!”
